The Bitesize Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Dictionary

Welcome to the Bitesize NLP Dictionary for items beginning with F. In this section we recommend you take a look at Fast Phobia Cure and Future Pacing to give you a taste of the best of Neuro-Linguistic Programming

F

Fast Phobia Cure

A simple technique for modifying feelings in a given memory such that phobia responses can be modified.

item1

Feedback

The sensory information that comes back to you as a response to your behaviour with positive feedback generally reinforcing the current behaviour and negative feedback generally encouraging a change in your behaviour.

item2

Feldenkrais Method

Developed by Moshe Feldenkrais this is an educational system which aims to improve both mind and body through increases in the patterns of movement, posture and breathing which are 'learned' by the unconscious.

item3

First Order Change

First order change is doing more, or less, of what we are already doing in order to change behaviour.

item4

First Position

To experience things through your own eyes and your own point of view. This is one of three perceptual positions, the others being Second and Third position. Sometimes also referred to as Associated.

item5

Flexibility

To have behavioural choices in any given situation. The more choices you have the more flexibility you have.

item6

Four Tuple

A notational system to document any particular experience with the premise that our experiences are composed of some combination of the four primary representational systems Audio, Visual, Kinesthetic and Olfactory. Exactly where Gustatory fits in all this I don't know :-)

item7

Frame

A way of viewing something. All our experiences have some frame or context. By changing the way we frame things we can change how we feel about them. In the picture on the right we could frame around the house and it would appear quite normal, but when we frame the whole picture we see how out of context it really is.

item8

Future Pace

Checking by mentally rehearsing an outcome to ensure that any new behaviours are working as intended.

item9

Future Pacing

Checking by mentally rehearsing an outcome to ensure that any new behaviours are working as intended.
