Unconscious
The part of you which is controlling things without conscious activity on your part. Everything your brain is doing but which you are not at that moment aware of.
Unconscious Installation
Installing ideas, behaviours, suggestion and skills into a person by communicating with their unconscious mind.
Unconscious Mind

Unified Field
A proposed matrix with three dimensions including neurological levels, perceptual postions and time which some consider a unifying framework for NLP.
Universal Quantifiers
A term to describe words which generalize language by denoting some form of totality. For example "Everybody thinks I am mad".
Unspecified Nouns
Ambiguous phrases which do not explain who or what they refer to. for example "They say this is easy". Who are they? See also Unspecified Referential Index.
Unspecified Referential Index
A language deletion where the subject of a sentence is missing. For example "mistakes were made" Who made these mistakes and what were they.
Unspecified Verbs
An ambiguous phrase where it is not clear exactly how the action is carried out. "My Manager frustrates me". To find the missing information you could ask "What does he do that frustrates you?".
Uptime
A state of mind where your attention is outwardly focused, a resourceful state to be in when you are presenting to groups for example.
